If it's pennies on the dollar he shouldn't bother trading him.....and probably won't.

Why would they be asking for a 1st or 2nd round pick?

That report is pretty much the opposite of what others have reported. It could be true, but it would mean that many others got things wrong. Oh well.

Yeah, the report doesn't make much sense.

I guess they feel they can flip a pick for pieces they covet. Or, it means the report isn't accurate. Either way, I do feel they are/were shopping him and his inclusion in the lineup tonight means they didn't like the offers. I still don't believe his press box duty was all "performance" related.

Even if they're still shopping him he still needs some playing time. Also, him playing against Buffalo could be indicative as to who's interested.

^^ Fair point. I could see the Sabers being interested but does he solve their problems short or long term? They could potentially pick him up in the off-season without giving up assets.
Losing Cole would suck, sucks a lot less if the return fills a need

Apparently Brandon Davidson is available from Montreal. He would be better suited in a system like ours. He’s a poor mans Justin Shultz. Could get rid of Hunwick that way too. Davidson is cheaper too. I wonder if Montreal would take a winger for him?

Yeah, but GMJR is pretty much on record as saying they need more scoring depth in the bottom 6. The problem they are facing IMHO, is that the attrition from the past offseason has left them significantly thinner at all positions, and there just aren't a lot of chips to play. I'm kind of perplexed as to why they don't give Sprong a shot up here to see if they can generate some more scoring internally. I assume they still want to let him do some developing down in WBS, but if they could get some internal help it would solve a lot of issues.

Because they gave up a 1st for Reaves. The rape-ee is trying to become the rape-er

They most certainly did. Albeit it was the last pick in this past draft, it was the first round none-the-less.

2015: 31-Jeremy Roy 51-Brendan Guhle.
2016: 31-Yegor Korshkov 51-Kale Clague.

2017: 31-Klim Kostin 51-Zachary Lauzon.

Let's be honest...unlikely any of these players end up as nhl stars...if they do it is still a crap shoot.  So in reality the pens gave up a player that provided little for another player that provides little of a different variety.  This narrative that the pens gave up a 1st for Reaves is lazy and incorrect.

How exactly is a first round draft pick not a first round draft pick?

Implying that they traded a 1st round pick for Reaves and ignoring the 2nd round pick 20 picks later they also received is exactly the same as saying we traded Jordan Staal for Derrick Pouliot and ignoring the fact that Brian Dumoulin and Brandon Sutter also came in that trade

The net result of the trade is Reaves for a 20 pick drop in the 2017 draft. Who gives a fvck about "rounds" ?

We still traded a 1st no matter way you spin it. A 1st and Sundqvist for a 2nd and Reaves

So, you mean it wasn't a 1st for Reaves? There was more to the trade?

Because that's what I keep reading........

What's a worse trade.... Reeves for the 31st overall or sundqvist for a mid second rounder. At this point Oskar's pretty much a bust. 22 games with 0 goals and 3 assists. The trade is what it is. Their really isn't a winner unless the Russian turns into something.....50/50

If players returned to their previous scoring rates, this 'lack of scoring' issue would be irrelevant in my opinion. Rusty has had a few, Sid finding the net. Now if Sheary, & couple of other 4th liners could grab 1 here & there (Not asking Sheahan to find old form ), our scoring issues wouldn't be a thing - now, goals against, there's an issue.............
